How to Change WiFi on Ring Doorbell

Change Ring Doorbell WiFi Network / Password

Ring Doorbells and security cameras require a WiFi connection to operate. If you change your home WiFi network or password then you need to change the settings in your Ring Device.

This article will explain how to change WiFi on Ring Doorbells and cameras (WiFi network or password) to keep your devices up and running.

How to change the WiFi on a Ring Doorbell or Camera

Ring makes it simple to change the WiFi settings on your camera or doorbell. Just follow the process below.

  2. Click on “Devices”

Your device needs to be connected to your current WiFi network to make these changes.

If you are no longer connected to WiFi, then you will need to reset the WiFi on your device in setup mode. Your Ring Doorbell will flash white if it isn’t connected and needs to be reset.

How to Avoid Changing Your Ring Doorbell WiFi Network

Changing the WiFi on your Ring device is simple, but it is a hassle. If possible, you should try to avoid changing your WiFi network SSID or password if it is secure.

New WiFi Router

The most common reason people change their WiFi SSID name or password is that they purchased a new WiFi router or changed the security type from WPA2 to WPS. Make sure your new router supports 2.4 GHz if your doorbell or camera is on the Ring list of products that don’t support 5 GHz.

A simple solution is to use the exact same WiFi name and password when you set up your new router. Keeping your old WiFi name and password will allow all of your devices to maintain their connections to the internet.

Your Ring Doorbell and other Ring devices will connect to your new network automatically. If you change your WiFi name or password, then you need to change the WiFi settings on each of these devices.

Don’t Change from WPA to WPS Security

Do not change the Security Type from WPA2 to WPS when setting up a new router. WPS security type is a poor method of securely connecting WiFi. If you change the security setup then you will have to reset the WiFi on your Ring Video Doorbell.

Use Ring Chime Pro

The Ring Chime Pro is an additional accessory that you can purchase for your Ring doorbell or camera. The Ring Chime Pro extends your current WiFi network to provide a stronger signal to your Ring Doorbell or camera. It can also play a chime when someone rings your doorbell.

The process of connecting the Ring Chime Pro is very simple. All you need to do is plug the device into a power source and then select which devices you want to connect to in the Ring app.

Conclusion

1 thought on “How to Change WiFi on Ring Doorbell”

  1. I know my question is the same, but my problem is different. I had to get a newer faster Internet service and I understand I need to reconnect to my new wifi in order for my Ring to work. However, I have been unable to remove the device from the wall unit despite best efforts in order to get the pin and QR code required. One of the screws is completely stuck. Any way around that by chance?
Thanks so much for your help!!
